Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has performed the World Lottery Association Security Control Standard (WLA-SCS) audit for Mexico’s national lottery, the Loteria Nacional para la Asistencia Pública.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he WLA-SCS certificate was granted to LOTENAL during the World Lottery Summit 2016 in Singapore.
“GLI was honoured by Mexico’s LOTENAL choosing our expertise and knowledge in this very important process to renew their WLA-SCS certification,” said Karen Marcela Sierra-Hughes, GLI’s director of Latin America and Caribbean government relations and business development.
As an associate member of the World Lottery Association (WLA) and official WLA certification service entity, GLI deploys experienced WLA-SCS auditors, accredited by the WLA Security and Risk Management Committee, in continued support of the lottery industry. Additionally, the company’s lottery services also include WLA-SCS training and assessments.
“GLI not only brings its unsurpassed technical expertise, but also its rounded lottery industry experience to its clients,” Sierra-Hughes explained.
This audit shows the LOTENAL Mexico’s continued efforts to comply with higher standards to guarantee transparency and integrity in their operations.
“This perfect combination allows for lotteries to benefit from an audit that is scoped to its line of business, achieving not only its objective to receive the WLA-SCS certification, but also to apply continuous improvement to their different areas for success.”
WLA-SCS is the lottery sector’s only internationally recognised security standard, allowing for lottery entities to adhere to a set of guidelines that are considered best industry practice.
While ISO27001 is a prerequisite for the certification, the WLA-SCS standards are specific to the lottery industry and are audited and evaluated by a separate scope.
The audit and certification process enables lotteries to benefit from GLI’s decades of experience specific to the lottery industry and build on observations and continuous improvement to support the mitigation of risks and preventative measures to protect the lottery’s reputation.
“This audit shows the LOTENAL Mexico’s continued efforts to comply with higher standards to guarantee transparency and integrity in their operations,” added Sierra-Hughes.
