IGT launches $17,000 computer suite at young people’s club

IGT and the Tennessee Education Lottery have installed a $17,000 computer lab at a young people’s club in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]GT officially opened its latest After School Advantage computer lab at the Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club this week in partnership with the Tennessee Education Lottery.

The $17,000 computer suite is the 282nd After School Advantage lab and incudes 12 Dell desktop computers, a laptop, a laser printer, assorted learning software, and furniture for the room.

Commenting on their after-school programs and their partnership with IGT, Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery, said: “The Lottery’s impact on education in Tennessee continues to grow. We are proud to partner with IGT to strengthen valuable after-school programs in various locations throughout the state. By helping provide computer labs, students have a chance to practice and expand computer literacy skills at an early age.”

Discussing their After School Advantage program which aims to assist the education of young people, Chris Shaban, Regional Vice President of IGT, said: “IGT is providing students with access to a powerful combination of educational resources and technology, opening doors to a vast range of opportunities and leading them toward an exciting future,” IGT is proud to support Nashville youth through our After School Advantage Program and applauds the community impact made by the Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club.”

Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club operates to enable all young people, especially those most in need to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Dan Jernigan, President/CEO of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, said:”The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee is extremely appreciative and fortunate to have our Preston Taylor Club as the location selected to receive the latest IGT Tech Center. The IGT Tech Center will pave the way for higher learning among our Club members. Our Club members will get a chance to explore coding, design apps, and build and program robots in robot tech. Through this opportunity, the digital divide that exists among many our youth today will be less, simply because of this IGT Tech Centre.”
