This year’s G2E Asia saw Konami Australia showcase a range of slot innovations destined for markets across the region.
[dropcap]K[/dropcap]onami Gaming continues to grow its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, and at this year’s G2E Asia the company presented its latest slots along with a new prototype gaming solution to delegates at the Cotai Expo.
“The slots sector is key for Konami in Asia,” said Charles Seo, product and marketing manager for the group’s Australia division. “Brothers of Fortune is still proving popular across the region. The product is already available in the Philippines, Malaysia and South Korea, and it recently received approval in Macau, so this is giving us an increased footprint.”
According to Seo, Konami’s Rapid Revolver series is also performing well across Asia-Pacific. “We currently have four titles in the series,” he said. “The latest is Fortune Sticks, which is our bolt-on SAP.”
Also on display on the Konami booth this year was the company’s SeleXion multigame cabinet. “SeleXion gives operators the ability to choose which multi-games they want for each venue,” Seo stated.
In addition to its latest slots innovations, Konami also showcased a prototype horse racing game called Fortune Cup. “We have a long history with mechanical horse games,” Seo said. “Fortune Cup is still early in development, and we brought the product to the show strictly to get feedback and listen to the market. While our slots division is our main focus, this new, multi-station game is a great example of what we can do.”
Discussing the ongoing importance of G2E Asia, Seo noted that the event attracts operators from not only Asia but also further afield. “We see lots of representatives from Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
“The show gives them a glimpse of what’s working in Asia and the opportunity to bring that back down under. The slots market there is being opened up with new casino openings and expansions.
“Our popular title, Chilli Chilli Fire, has been converted to the Australian market and was recently approved. Unlike the US version, we have added a jackpot to the product, as the Australian market is very jackpot-focused.
“The Konami Gaming team in Australia talks very closely with the US team to understand what’s working there. We then pick and choose what we think has the right mechanics for the Australian market, but then tailor the mechanics to that market.”
