Merkur Gaming has reported growth in several markets. Last year, chief executive Athanasios ‘Sakis’ Isaakidis and his team succeeded in further strengthening the company’s position in a number of markets and also in tapping important new sales markets.

The company has since expanded its presence in major casino markets and was above all able to further consolidate its market position in Europe.

Merkur Gaming celebrated a successful market entry in Greece

In 2017, Merkur Gaming made a picture-book entry into the Greek market. The Merkur Gaming team managed to install their products in almost all Greek casinos. “Driven by product innovations and multigame suites that satisfy the Greek players’ desire for choice we were able to meet Merkur’s objective to be recognised as the brand that delivers,” Isaakidis said.

In particular the Avantgarde Trio, with its third high-definition monitor in combination with the latest multigame packages, went down a storm with Greek players. “We are delighted not only that the market launch went so well, but also that we were able to place our products so diversely and widely in the Greek market,” added Markus Wessler, sales director.

Bulgaria: The story to be continued

Merkur Gaming has written a similar success story in Bulgaria. “Following the successful market launch in 2016, our market performance in 2017 allowed us to significantly expand our position,” Markus Wessler explained.

After the team celebrated its premiere two years ago at the Balkan Entertainment & Gaming Expo (BEGE) in Sofia, visitors last year could look forward to a stand that had more than doubled in size and a superlative product show. Apart from the latest HD games systems, Merkur Gaming above all wowed the Bulgarian market with the Avantgarde Trio and the Avantgarde. Both cabinets are characterised by their modern design, distinctive lighting effects and high-resolution HD technology.

“We are proud of the achievements we have recorded during the past twelve months in Bulgaria and we will continue to develop products that meet players’ expectations. Our game designers and sales team are aiming to build on this 2017 success in Bulgaria,” Isaakidis said.

Definition of performance for German Spielbanken

In 2017, Merkur Gaming and its sales team carried out a rollout product campaign that covered all the largest operators in the German Spielbanken sector. Multigames developed by Merkur Gaming and tailor-made jackpot solutions for German Spielbanken have redefined performance expectations.

“Driven by players’ preferences and high recognition of the Merkur Gaming brand, we have been able to fully deliver on our clients’ casino expectations. With the 2018 road map in front of us, we are confident that we can do even better in 2018.”

This excellent result is based partly on the experiences gained through the operation of the company’s own casinos in Leuna-Günthersdorf and Magdeburg, as well as the five licensed casino venues in the German capital, Berlin, in which the Gauselmann Group is actively involved as a shareholder. Moving forward, the company intends to continue along this path with innovative new products and thus strengthen its foothold in the international casino markets.

Wessler is also very proud of this success: “Following a test phase in our own casinos, we have now rolled out our specially developed products for the casino segment across the entire market. They are proving extremely successful and have achieved an outstanding performance.”

At this year’s ICE, the Gauselmann sales brand is demonstrating the innovative products with which it hopes to continue on its successful course.
