African hoteliers, City Lodge Hotel group is set to reach two important milestones in its $70m (R1bn) African expansion drive with the opening of premises in Tanzania and Mozambique in Q4 of this year.

The operator has a number of tourist locations throughout the continent centered around a 54-strong portfolio in South Africa and the two new properties in Dar es Salaam and Maputo are expected to welcome guests by September and October respectively.

However, Andrew Widegger, chief executive designate at City Lodge, said the group did not have any more construction projects currently slated for the next year, although it is looking at relevant markets.

“The group continues to assess opportunities in South Africa, Southern Africa and East Africa. This effort will be stepped up once the current expansion phase is completed,” he said.
