This year’s Punta Cana Poker Classic takes place from October 25-31 at the luxurious Meliá Caribe Tropical resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – a departure from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which has hosted the event since its inception.
The Punta Cana Poker Classic parks a Las Vegas-style, Texas Hold’em tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 (E450,000).
The event’s organisers, online poker operators Americas Cardroom and Winning Poker Network, have reserved an entire section of the Meliá Caribe Tropical, creating a private poker haven for the winners of satellite tournaments and those who buy in directly.
“Yes, the main event of the World Series of Poker hasn’t even seen cards in the air, but we’re already starting to think about the fall and the ultimate poker vacation that awaits,” said Michael Harris, spokesperson for Winning Poker Network.
“We’re excited to host satellites for the tropical poker tournament every Sunday and we’re stoked that so many players have already opted to choose Punta Cana when winning a WSOP PCPC satellite.”
The Punta Cana Poker Classic officially kicks off on Tuesday, October 25, with a welcome cocktail event. Also on the schedule for Tuesday are Sit & Go’s, jackpot poker games, and an NLH Hyper Turbo main event satellite.
The main event runs until Sunday, October 30, with the final table getting underway at 2pm. Sandwiched into the schedule on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are CPT Punta Cana satellites and the CPT Punta Cana Main Event itself.
