Olympic Entertainment Group, the Estonia-based casino company with operations across eastern Europe, Italy and Malta, is planning to add live casino gaming to its websites including Olybet.com.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he live gaming service, according to Olympic, which operates 125 casinos and 33 betting shops, may pave the way for convergence within the group’s own land-based venues – a strategy that is increasingly being adopted by European operators.

Veiko Krünberg, managing director of online operations and sports betting at Olympic, said: “As the leading brand in the Baltics, and with a growing casino estate across central southern Europe, our vision is to be a global casino and resort operator. It is logical, therefore, to work with the largest supplier of live casino services.

“Evolution Gaming will give us a remarkable choice of games and tables across multiple devices from day one. Added to that, Evolution Live Casino provides world-class quality in operations and large scope and flexibility for future service development.”

Over recent months, land-based casino operators have been ramping up their efforts to integrate live gaming solutions within their online platforms. Speaking at this year’s International Casino Conference (ICC) in February, Carlo Pagan, chief executive officer of Casinò di Campione, demonstrated how the convergence of online and offline channels can help improve customer engagement and open up new revenue streams.

“At 50,000sq.m, Casinò di Campione is the biggest casino in Europe,” Pagan said. “In Italy, however, the online gaming market is now bigger than that of traditional casinos. We knew we wanted to enter the e-gaming market, but were presented with a big marketing issue: how do we maintain our leading position in the bricks-and-mortar casino sector and transfer our brand values to e-commerce?

“To answer this question, we created an area inside our casino that is used for the production of live table games for the online market. This technical production area has physical dealers managing roulette, black jack and punto banco for our online business. This area is absolutely integrated into the casino, so visitors to Casinò di Campione can watch the games taking place.”
