This year’s EMPOWER conference by Scientific Games has added former Homeland Security Chair, Frances Frago Townsend, as keynote speaker.


Scientific Games Corporation has confirmed the prestigious analyst Frances Frago Townsend as keynote speaker for its EMPOWER customer conference on March 8, 2017.

Townsend, CBS Senior National Security Analyst, Former Homeland Security Chair, and Scientific Games Board Member, will provide the keynote address to more than 600 attendees at Scientific Games’ EMPOWER conference, which takes place at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The address, titled “Leading During Turbulent Times: Remembering the 5 C’s”, will draw on Townsend’s extensive experience as a highly regarded homeland security expert and TV personality.

Currently, Townsend works across MacAndrews and Forbes Incorporated portfolio companies, focusing on international, legal, compliance and business development issues. Additionally she is an on-air senior national security analyst for CBS News, regularly appearing on network and cable TV as a foreign policy, counter-terrorism, national and homeland security expert.

Her past roles have included corporate partner with the law firm of Baker Botts, assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism and chaired the Homeland Security Council, alongside serving as Deputy National Security Advisor for Combatting Terrorism from May 2003 to May 2004. Townsend also spent 13 years at the U.S. Department of Justice under the administrations of President George H. W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President George W. Bush, receiving numerous awards for her public service accomplishments.
