Sun Dreams finalises purchase of four casinos in Peru

Chilean operator Sun Dreams has finalised the purchase of four casinos in Peru from Thunderbird Resorts, in a $26m deal.

“The decision [to acquire the properties] reaffirms our commitment to continue investing in Peru, a country that has developed a competitive and transparent gaming industry with a stable regulatory framework,” said Martín Dávila, general manager of Sun Dreams Peru.

Following the completion of the deal, Santiago-headquartered Sun Dreams - the largest casino opera- tor in Latin American - now operates seven casinos and slot parlours in Peru, hosting a total of 1,924 slot machines and 89 gaming tables.

“We are proud of this major step that doubles our footprint in Peru and represents a great opportunity to expand our presence in a competitive industry with a stable regulatory framework,” said Jaime Wilhelm, CEO of Sun Dreams.

“The purchase forms part of Sun Dreams SA’s international expansion plans and will have a positive impact on our results.”
