In order to strengthen its rising momentum across Latin America, Merkur Gaming – a subsidiary of Germany’s Gauselmann Group – has made an internal promotion and appointed Tomas Mieles as sales director Latin America, effective immediately.
Mieles has been the country manager for Merkur Gaming Peru since 2013 – and takes on his new pan-regional role as Merkur expands into new markets throughout the continent.
Born in Ecuador, Mieles is a mechanical engineering graduate as well as a postgraduate in industrial engineering studies from the Federal Polytechnic of Zurich. Having worked in various industrial roles, he came to the gaming industry in 1996 – and rapidly gained experience through various roles with Atronic, Spielo and Gtech.
“Tomas Mieles has been invested in the Gauselmann Group since 1996 and has the drive and enthusiasm to be a leading figure in the expansion of Merkur Gaming that is now underway,” said Charles Hiten, CEO of Merkur Gaming Americas. “I congratulate him on his new position and wish him every success in the future.”
Regarding his new appointment, Mieles stated: “I am proud to work for the Gauselmann Group and to make my contribution to the exciting development of Mercer in Latin America as we move ahead and open up new markets across the region.”
