Casino and hotel operator Tsogo Sun has affirmed its strength in Cape Town, South Africa with the recent launch of two economy hotels as the company hopes to fill a perceived gap in the regional tourism market.

The newly built $51m SunSquare and StayEasy hotels have increased the overall number of rooms operated by the company in the city center to more than 2,000 across six premises.

Tsogo Sun operations manager John van Rooyen told press: “Tsogo Sun is running at an average of 63 percent occupancy in Cape Town, but we know that the StayEasy will run at about 80 percent and the SunSquare at about 70 percent.

“The interest has come from a variety of all segments. Air crew have shown an interest as have the government, inter- national visitors, and leisure.

“We are looking forward to seeing what this hotel is going to be like when the people come from KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and other parts of Southern Africa later this year,” he added.
