The Zimbabwe tourism market is expected to go from strength to strength in the coming year as the nation continues to re-establish itself as an attractive visitor destination.

The national government is reportedly confident that earnings from the tourism market will at least double in 2019 after last year counting the highest number of international arrivals in 19 years.
Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Prisca Mupfumira claimed that the nation welcomed 2.7m visitors in 2018 and plans are currently underway to increase the momentum by bidding to host major international events.
“In 2018, we have been targeting $1bn in revenue and I am happy to say that we have surpassed that target.
“On arrivals, we have reached 2.7m we are confident that the new year will be even better if we do our things properly. I don’t see any reason why we cannot double those figures. For that to happen, we need enablers; that’s the major issue,” she said.
